Any rater can hand this face a number out of ten. The question is what arrives with it: here, five measured proportions you can read against each other, a photo that never leaves the device it was taken on, and a download with nothing stamped across it. The table below sets those against the four things people go looking for an alternative over.

The same instant rating, without the four things people leave over.

Why people look for a uMax alternative

uMax popularised the quick AI face rating: upload a selfie, get a number out of ten. It works, but a familiar set of complaints pushes people to search for an alternative — the rating usually wants an account or the app itself, the photo is uploaded to a server, the score arrives without any explanation of what drove it, and the shareable result often carries a watermark. FaceGrade was built around removing exactly those four friction points while keeping the instant 1–10 rating.

What makes a good alternative

  • No sign-up or install: it should rate you in a browser tab, not behind a login wall.
  • Privacy by default: on-device processing means your photo never leaves your phone, which a server upload cannot promise.
  • An explainable score: one number tells you less than the symmetry, golden ratio, facial thirds, canthal tilt and jawline measurements behind it.
  • A clean download: the report you export should have no watermark stamped on it.
  • Consistency: the same photo should give the same result, not a fresh guess every refresh.

How FaceGrade rates your face

Like uMax you start from one photo, but from there the process is transparent. An on-device model maps 478 facial landmarks, measures five proportions against commonly cited ideals, and combines them into your 1–10 score while showing each sub-score. You also get your detected face shape and a downloadable report — no premium APK hunting required.

uMax alternative FAQ

All seven tools
What makes FaceGrade a good uMax alternative?
It gives you the same instant face rating but adds the reasoning: five measured metrics, your face shape, and a downloadable report — with no sign-up and no photo upload, because everything runs in your browser.
Do I have to install an app?
No. FaceGrade is a website. Open it, upload a photo, and read the report — on desktop or mobile.
Is it free?
Yes, the full report is free with no account and no watermark on the download.
Do I need a uMax premium APK to get a detailed report?
No. FaceGrade gives the 1–10 score, the five measured metrics, your face shape and a downloadable report for free, without an account or a paid app unlock.
How is FaceGrade different from any face rating app?
The same idea applies across the category: no sign-up, on-device photo processing so nothing is uploaded, an explainable per-metric breakdown instead of one bare number, and a watermark-free export.
